Tips for
Rushing
Get to know us.
Attend our Info Session and read about our organization on this website to gain a greater perspective on what our organization is all about. Attending our events is also highly encouraged. These events give us that chance to get to know you outside of what's on your application. You also get to know our actives and get a better sense of what our chapter is like. When attending events, make sure to get to know a variety of people. We pick our new member class as a chapter, every active you meet will be a part of the decision-making process.
Get to know each other.
Potential New Members you meeting during the recruitment process could become your new friend, collaborator, or fellow new member classmate. Whatever your journeys may be, we encourage you to get to know each other and have fun during this process together regardless of who receives a bid.
Ensure you can commit.
Our New Member Program is a robust, 6-week crash course that ensures all new members are prepared for all National Requirements of becoming inducted and have an easy transition into becoming an active. Please review our Step 3 section above for further details.
Be yourself.
We want to know how you truly are as a person and cinematic artist. We are looking for imaginative, collaborative, and driven cinematic artists of character who can all contribute to our chapter in their own unique way. All backgrounds, experience levels, classes (graduate and undergraduate), majors, and cinematic interests are welcome! We want to learn what makes you special and which of our values you personally excel in.
Submit early.
Submitting your application on time is the only requirement you must complete to be considered for a bid into our new member program (during which members are inducted into our chapter as active voting members).
Don't give up.
We are limited in the size of New Member Class our resources are able to accommodate during each semester's program. If you do not receive a bid, it does not mean that you are any less of a spectacular artist or person. If you do not receive a bid, we highly encourage you to re-apply next season! Some of our members have applied three times before receiving a bid.
Mind your words.
While we love the societal bonds we have formed through social and fellowship opportunities, we are looking for members who are able to balance work life and social life. We are hoping to find those we envision as both valued friends and collaborators. With this in mind, please keep conversations during recruitment events to those you would feel comfortable having with acquaintances or co-workers.
Try your best.
